It's such a rich tapestry of characters and concepts that it's legitimately hard to pick a favorite group. The tales of Death are astounding and humanizing. Vimes is probably the closest anyone's ever written a cop to not be a complete bastard. Granny Weatherwax give us so much insight into ourselves and how we move through society, whether we want it or not. And these days, the idea of a competent, compassionate tyrant like Vetinari doesn't sound like the worst option.

But my heart always turns to the Unseen University and Rincewind. They want to understand the world, but have so many fundamental discompatibilities with that world and they're starting from such broken assumptions. Their failures aren't from a lack of effort or the strength of their opposition, but their own deep flaws. Likewise, Rincewind's overriding concern is just seeing tomorrow (and a nice sandwich) in a world that very much doesn't want that. #TerryPratchett #GNUTerryPratchett #Discworld
