@jimsalter@fosstodon.org how many of these people are actually in technical roles? if you started at MSFT when you were 30 and you've worked there for 20 years you'd be 50, and that's 20 years of service so 50+20 = 70 so you qualify for the buyout
most of the people who qualify are probably over 50 years of age
so far everyone my wife has met that has qualified for the buyout are like 50 years old and they do paper pushing / management jobs
(i work from home, she exists in the real world and meets these people in her job)

@feld@friedcheese.us @jimsalter@fosstodon.org Not sure why you’d think paper pushing/management jobs would be less important for software quality, but it does reminds me of Golgafrincham Ark Fleet Ship B from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
