(it was in the mid-00s and they didn't have all these new TLDs back then)

Don’t get awestruck by teaser rates shown on some neat looking TLD, only to find out it renews at 10-40x the price. If you do go with another TLD though, can be fun to domain hack https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_hack
