We chuckle when Scotty picks up a mouse and tries talking to the computer in Star Trek IV, but imagine travelling forward in time from the 90s and realizing they got rid of the fucking scrollbars

@secretasianman@types.pl and the page doesn't even properly scroll, it keeps loading more and more, plus now you get stupid animations of all the squircles being "generated" making using the page slower

@secretasianman@types.pl As an avid Star Trek fan, there are not scroll bars on LCARS UI design elements from #StarTrek. So technically Scotty would be just as annoyed with the “mouse”. Original Trek predated UI in computer systems, but the interfaces were knobs and screens. Much of the interactive elements were based on voice. So Siri stumbling with requests might be something they’d have done if the movies were made today. @ricci@discuss.systems
