Because, according to him, since the developers said the game was “urban fantasy,” it’s fine to have fantasy elements.
That we’ve always had demons running around and magic swords and no one ever said anything. And that since the main theme (according to him) of 2.0 was greed, which is an urban theme, it counts as “urban fantasy.”
Since the people complaining can’t really define why they’re complaining, there’s actually no problem.

That's true. Sometimes it's hard to pinpoint exactly why it's so different, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem. Let's start with a very simple example. You can easily and effortlessly identify which characters belong to ZZZ 1.0. Whereas if you take a look at the 3.0 characters, people would have trouble telling whether or not they’re from Genshin. They’ve even changed the designs of characters they’d already defined to make them more fantasy-like (and more cleavage).
