Out of curiosity, I also checked flight prices. Without bike and luggage, I could get to Venice for 18 EUR (one-way, non-stop, 1:25).
This world is backwards :(

Even Interrail looks expensive compared to bus (and I don't even want to think about the whole hassle of figuring out mandatory seat or bike reservations and exceptions for Interrail validity).
