@megalomaniac Personally, I am content with a Pixel running GrapheneOS. Graphene is, to my mind, the best if the Android-based options today. But I would prefer not to use Android at all, which is a work in progress.

@megalomaniac I've successfully ignored Google asking for me to add a birthday to my account for two years or more. Android has nagged, but not yet tried to enforce it.

@megalomaniac i use a pixel running graphene and have been quite happy with it. used pixels should be relatively easy to come across, and iirc the older ones are pretty good when it comes to stuff like battery replaceability

@megalomaniac Say more about what you need from a phone. Must it be a smartphone? What kind of access to apps etc do you need? (Yes if you're in the UK, you can run Sailfish, and their new phone is coming out this summer)

@megalomaniac phone wise I'm very happy with the #Fairphone5 I have. Now they have a partnership with @murena and you can get their phones with the de-googled /e/OS which I will for sure do next phone (some years from now because the current one is going so strong). Quick note though: I have not tried nor fully researched /e/OS or how it compares to other OSs but it appears capable of running many banking apps (what makes breaking out most difficult for me).
