As a creator, I just want to send a mailing list of people an email whenever I make something cool. Maybe a light comment system.
As a patron, I want a trustworthy payment processor so I can send The Leftist Cooks five dollars. (You should also send the leftist cooks five dollars)
I’m not *trying* to make these sound like shitty user stories, it’s just that the things I use Patreon for are so simple, and so contrary to the metrics they’re chasing, that it falls that way anyway.

I’m also still wary of them as a company due to their handling of the “Apple tax”. Not that they complied with it— they hardly have a choice— but rather the way they started blasting my patrons with notifications to upsell their subscriptions, or change their billing frequency immediately afterward. Not only was that annoying, but it is still ambiguous to this day whether those prompts would make those subscriptions qualify as “having signed up via an iPhone”.
