The comments on the announcement(s) are already leaning into it. Most of them are what I can only describe as LinkedIn Grindset markov chains. A modern day mutation of “first!”, transparently attempting to siphon traffic from a high-traffic post.
Meanwhile, my home feed is absolutely drowned in their new “quips” feature, which, let’s be clear, is just their branded name for short-form TikTok style videos.

As a creator, I just want to send a mailing list of people an email whenever I make something cool. Maybe a light comment system. As a patron, I want a trustworthy payment processor so I can send The Leftist Cooks five dollars. (You should also send the leftist cooks five dollars) I’m not *trying* to make these sound like shitty user stories, it’s just that the things I use Patreon for are so simple, and so contrary to the metrics they’re chasing, that it falls that way anyway.
