@steely_glint @moreentropy This has been a persistent misinterpretation of both waterfall and agile. The waterfall problem is a lack of feedback loops and an inability to adapt at the budget and management level. The myth that you don't have to care about specifications in agile is a shortsighted read of "working software over comprehensive documentation". Those in the DDD-community have always known this, and it's interesting to see how they are using AI.

    @kerfuffle @moreentropy Last time I did a full waterfall project it was for ESA (30 years ago) - we were launching the thing with no opportunity to update the inflight stuff and a very short lifespan of the mission (limited by cryogenics). Accompanied by inflexible budgetary politics. Waterfall made a lot of sense at that point. Oh and did I mention that the launch window was determined by planetary locations? All the _hard_ constraints.
