@moreentropy @steely_glint That said, I do think there's still a chance to use the learnings to get to a responsible, sustainable, ethical, compliant version of this technology. I've seen it do amazing things and I've seen it fail spectacularly. Throwing more money at the unscrupulous as they enshittify this is not the way forward; regulation is.

@kerfuffle @moreentropy The general direction of the concerns were right, but the _detail_ of emerging best practice is new (at least to me) and not what I would have guessed. For example, to paraphrase one of the commentators, we are seeing a return to the specification as the key to a software project. I did not expect AI to revive the waterfall project dev method ;-) ( to be fair my friend strenuously objects to that characterisation!)
