Everyone knows that Americans pronounce 'buoy' as "booie", but I heard someone say that they were "booied" by some good news.
Was that guy "booie-ant" (buoyant) on hearing the good news? 🤷

@Koochulainn@mastodon.ie clearly ’buoy’, and ‘Bowie’ are both supposed to be pronounced the same way: /buː.i/. Unless we’re talking about Ziggy Stardust, of course. Or buoyancy. What could possibly be confusing about this?
