@doctormo Ah, looking at the commit history, https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/commit/b803a0d60e30f27ddcc67c07931eddb2b68968c9 is very similar to what I locally did to fix the excess space on the left (not pictured yet).
My code still feels like a bit of a hack, but I'm glad to see other people used a similar approach. :)

@CmykStudent Aye, but know of course that this work was not mine personally. Connecting the dots. I suspect with gtk3 there's more we could share. Certainly we have some gtk4 widgets that I would love to move into a shared library. Some sort of Gtk Drafting Widgets library.
