@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place here is where we would be doing a Chef Excellence meme. But our phone has decided it shall never download anything ever again. So just imagine the ashens jingle.

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place I thought it was eXtreme Markup Language, because it was invented in the radical 90s by five gnarly dudes and one sick, kick-flippin chick.

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place I'm going to say it: if as an industry we'd done SOAP properly and built the tooling to support it in more languages, it would have been awesome. XSD is so much better than json schema for specifying a domain.

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place It really is! Its greatest downfall was that people wanted it to be a serialization format, didn't understand the difference, and made giant messes. I still wish XHTML was a thing, because people still think that what counts as "valid HTML" is well defined but it absolutely isn't

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place oh no, I always thought it stood for "excellent, my love". Now I understand why I was always given weird looks, when I told that to my love when something good happened!

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place come on, what about the huge flexibility of CSV? You can put any kind of data in any format with it! If you ever want to read that data back, however, yeah, then XML is needed :-)
