Now, the overall design was that you knew that, over the course of 5 sessions, you would receive: Valium, amphetamine, placebo, and 2 different doses of nefazodone.
But you did not know which one you'd be getting in any given week. You could be going up, down, sideways, or spinning your wheels.
Then, every hour, we would do the questionnaire again, and they'd take our vitals.
At the end, they asked one more question: "What do you think you got, and how much would you pay for it?" (9/15)

You could always tell when someone had got the amphetamine. They didn't particularly feel it themselves—it wasn't meth or any of the amphetamines people use for fun, just pure amphetamine hydrochloride. It didn't *feel* interesting. But someone would be pacing around talking a mile a minute, going "Does anyone wanna go for a walk? Boy that pizza looks good—no I don't want any. I'm gonna go have a cigarette. Is it really bright in here?" (10/15)
