"I feel hungry." "I feel sleepy." "My nose itches." "I feel as if I could drive all night." "I feel like I've taken a laxative." "I feel at peace with the world and everything in it." "I have been having sneezing spells." And on, and on, and on, for 102 questions. It was honestly kind of hilarious. After that, we'd be ushered back into the vitals room and given Our Drug: four huge, gunmetal-grey capsules to swallow with a bit of orange juice. (8/15)

Now, the overall design was that you knew that, over the course of 5 sessions, you would receive: Valium, amphetamine, placebo, and 2 different doses of nefazodone. But you did not know which one you'd be getting in any given week. You could be going up, down, sideways, or spinning your wheels. Then, every hour, we would do the questionnaire again, and they'd take our vitals. At the end, they asked one more question: "What do you think you got, and how much would you pay for it?" (9/15)
