So how did HŽ get trains in and out of the railroads that were cut off? Trains B741 and B743 give us a clue. They went around the occupied territory towards Hungary, to Koprivnica, and then took the unelectrified line towards Osijek to Našice, before taking the branch line south and rejoining the Belgrade - Zagreb main line at Nova Kapela - Batrina.
Instead of 256km on electrified almost fully double tracked line, the route from Zagreb to Vinkovci took 379km on mostly unelectrified single track

But the eeriest thing are the completely empty timetables in the occupied territories. Especially when contrasted with the international services advertised right under the empty timetables. But this isn't the full picture, because railroads were actually used in the Republic of Serbian Krajina. Information is scarce, and there wasn't anything resembling regular passenger service, but RSK did use at least some of these railroads, including for military purposes. This requires more research.

@mejs We can see that even today on Zagreb - Split: the electrified line to Knin is no longer used (and also no longer electrified)
