@johannbg SMRs generate radioactive waste at a much higher rate than conventional reactors, do they not? And where's the waste going to go? Right now it's mostly kept in pools at the nuclear power plant. Can't do that with an SMR. You'll have to carry the waste on a truck to some kind of dumping facility, and if that truck suffers a traffic accident, suddenly the surrounding city is uninhabitable for 40 years. All in all, this sounds like a horrible idea. @sesivany

@argv_minus_one @sesivany Well where does the waste go today? Anyone that is already operating nuclear power plants already has waste management process ( typically deep cavern of sorts ). That said the thorium-uranium cycle produces less long-lived radioactive waste, which significantly reduces radiotoxicity, and drastically shortens the treatment cycle compared to Uranium waste.
