@argv_minus_one @sesivany Well where does the waste go today? Anyone that is already operating nuclear power plants already has waste management process ( typically deep cavern of sorts ).
That said the thorium-uranium cycle produces less long-lived radioactive waste, which significantly reduces radiotoxicity, and drastically shortens the treatment cycle compared to Uranium waste.
The Molten salt waste is converted into a glassy solid (vitrification), improving its chemical stability,

@argv_minus_one @sesivany and then sealed into deep geological structures. The thorium based molten salt reactors can be combined with online separation technology to extract Pa-233 in real time and promote its decay into U-233, improving fuel utilization. The Rare earth elements contained in the waste can be extracted and recovered, offsetting approximately 15% of the processing costs. It also has significant volume advantage over Uranium waste so there is that too.
