@johannbg No, all our nuclear plants are running, but at the same time we haven't been able to start a construction of another one in the last 25 years because of NIMBY. We haven't even been able to pick a location of the permanent used fuel storage because of NIMBY.

@johannbg SMRs generate radioactive waste at a much higher rate than conventional reactors, do they not? And where's the waste going to go? Right now it's mostly kept in pools at the nuclear power plant. Can't do that with an SMR. You'll have to carry the waste on a truck to some kind of dumping facility, and if that truck suffers a traffic accident, suddenly the surrounding city is uninhabitable for 40 years. All in all, this sounds like a horrible idea. @sesivany
