Terry Pratchett was born on this day- April 28th, 1948. He passed in 2015, suffering from early-onset Alzheimer's. His Discworld gallimaufry is his most enduring legacy, a beautiful examination of western culture riding all over the spectrum of satire & parody.

It's such a rich tapestry of characters and concepts that it's legitimately hard to pick a favorite group. The tales of Death are astounding and humanizing. Vimes is probably the closest anyone's ever written a cop to not be a complete bastard. Granny Weatherwax give us so much insight into ourselves and how we move through society, whether we want it or not. And these days, the idea of a competent, compassionate tyrant like Vetinari doesn't sound like the worst option. #TerryPratchett #GNUTerryPratchett #Discworld
