@tristan it's actually just a bit of translation fuckery. The OFFICIAL handling sheets for these parts when not ordered as vacuum sealed or when they're exposed to any non-humidity controlled area recommends pretty much the exact same to remove moisture prior to installation. It's common across pretty much every part and package there is.

@tristan the reason for this being that moisture can get in or on the package and when subjected to typical soldering temperatures of 220C+ will basically cause any water molecules to flash over to steam. Which can cause soldering defects or even internal damage. Whereas if you bake them at 100C, this will cause a controlled boil-off that removes all potential moisture.

@rootwyrm I've never done any surface mount stuff other than occasional passives. 110c for 24 hours seems insane to me, but that's what I'm seeing everywhere lol.
