@tristan the reason for this being that moisture can get in or on the package and when subjected to typical soldering temperatures of 220C+ will basically cause any water molecules to flash over to steam. Which can cause soldering defects or even internal damage. Whereas if you bake them at 100C, this will cause a controlled boil-off that removes all potential moisture.
