Soaking some really manky telephone handset cords in a detergent solution to clean them up a bit. Tomorrows job will be to wipe them down and reform the coils - then they should be back to “acceptable” condition, ready to go on phones

    More telephone cleanup continuing, the fading is naaaasty on these (and they’re not the slightest bit “rare” or “special”) so I have no moral problem prepping it for paint… But that’s a job for future me!

    @lpbkdotnet@mstdn.social when I worked in telecoms I’d get snarked at for being “OCD” about untangling peoples’ handset cords. But once you’ve replaced your 50th cord that’s so tangled it’s damaged the wires, and the user’s complaining of intermittent audio, you see it as (future) labour-saving 😏 Also got called a smartarse once when a user claimed she had no idea how it got so tangled, I replied “I do” and demonstrated exactly what she was doing to tangle it, just like everyone else 😆
