Anyway any time I hear a news report referring to him as "America's Mayor" I'm like, wow, does anybody even really call him that He put up barriers in intersections so we couldn't cross the street where we wanted. I don't remember anybody liking him

@catmisgivings@stranger.social He was universally beloved for a year or two after 9/11, mostly by people who'd never set foot in New York. It's ironic, because 9/11 was so much worse than it needed to be because of decisions that Giuliani made

@catmisgivings He got that title on September 11 of 2001 because he came on TV after George W. Bush and we were all so, so relieved, in a scary and difficult time, to have someone in government who could speak in complete sentences and didn't seem like he was probably drunk right now.

@catmisgivings I bet there are a number of people who consider that a pejorative if they have watched American politics for any period of time. Like calling Trump the most republican President of all time.
