Mainstreaming disabled children in schools was meant to bring down barriers & reduce societal ignorance around disability, and it probably has to some degree. But inadequate training & resources mean that mainstream systems are probably overloaded, & no doubt lead to resentment amongst some parents & teachers. None of which helps public attitudes towards funding & support.

@Susan60 @Ailbhe @autistics I'm sure not. Neither does the press and some politician's insistence on harping on about over-diagnosis and the crisis that it brings. For far too many it's easier to see us as the problem and not the system and it's failures.
