@digitalkrampus Modern PC floppy controllers still speak 5.25", and as recently as Windows XP they were natively supported (AFAIK Linux and the BSDs still fully natively support them). My last Windows machine had one that mounted directly into DOSBox for maximum retro realism.

  • @silvermoon82 hmmm ok, my lack of understanding is apparent: if I buy a 5.25” drive, I would need an ISA or PCI controller card? Or are you suggesting I pull out a controller from somewhere else? I watched a video of a guy in Sweden (if memory serves) who pulled the controller board out of a USB floppy drive and connected it to the floppy card edge of a 5.25 inch drive and could read data off a disk via USB.
