@pikhq the person who designed discord @ everyone was definitely assuming discord was for groups of about ten people who all knew each other
if you’re in a server with substantially more than ten people which hasn’t locked down @ everyone, well, maybe you should pointedly give the admins a few pings… though you can also block @ everyone from pinging you on a per-server basis (forgive me if you’re very aware, but a lot of discord users have no idea this is possible)

@0xabad1dea the lovely context was, in this case, someone on a server i admin getting their account popped and that was how i found out that it wasn't locked down like i thought 🙃

@0xabad1dea @pikhq in practice it doesn't feel possible. You can't get rid of the red notification number afaik, only the sound and push notification
