I hope he wins, but I also hope a few zeros get added on to the sum sought in punitive damages. $1.5m is change lost down the sofa for Google.

@stephen@ephemera.vital.org.nz I reckon it wouldn't be too hard to find a thousand more people who could also sue for $1.5 million for things Google's genAI “summary” has said about them. After about a thousand you wouldn't run out of lawsuits, but you might start to get short on available lawyers.

Yes, if awarded this should be considered in how many seconds of revenue this is. Hopefully this is a good precedent and lots and lots of people can claim after their reputations are besmirched. @stephen@ephemera.vital.org.nz
