I’m really enjoying dot hack infection, but damn its no wonder this game is so obscure. Not only is the game from 2002 and based on the idea of a VR MMO, but its community that exists is extremely off-putting in the sense that they insist you HAVE to play specific ways and use specific items. I’m only about 3 hours into the game but already I’m getting a feel for the gameplay loop, and quite enjoying it. But if you look at how I’m playing vs how the average dot hack player says to play, you’d think I had never played a video game before. The claim that you need to play on emulator at 150% speed with a max stack of speed boost and accuracy boost items feels… unnecessary. Not to mention I’m not abusing items that give me insane attack damage boosts yet, because by admission of the community those items break the first few games in the series. Yet they suggest you NEED to use those items to enjoy the game.

@thatgalsilver If it's a single player game and you're enjoying it, you're doing it right. This is true regardless of what other people on the Internet will tell you.

@thatgalsilver "by admission of the community those items break the first few games in the series. Yet they suggest you NEED to use those items to enjoy the game" There's little you could tell me that would push me further away from a game than these two sentences combined.
