That preamble in focus, I am wondering if anyone here might have suggestions for small, baby steps you took, or would recommend I take, when it comes to gender expression? Or, any advice in how best to tread in a moment that feels very vulnerable but also very open with possibility?

@breadinside@lgbtqia.space I am nonbinary and not currently trying to present femme in public so my situation is a bit different from yours but the thing that got me to present queer in public was that my wife just kept buying rainbow merch for me - stickers, pins, clothes, accessories, etc. and that allowed me to gradually keep leaning in to it. So - maybe just start with a rainbow flag pin? It's kinda gauche and wearing a rainbow flag pin doesn't really signal anything strong but maybe that's a good thing to start with.

@breadinside@lgbtqia.space Practical advice: Underwear. I'm utterly masc to the world because they can't see my underwear. It's a tiny baby step. My advice is to buy extremely cheap until you feel like it's something you actually want to invest in. Then wear it under your normal underwear, just to see how it feels. Unless you're in a situation where people are regularly seeing you naked, it's pretty low risk. You may find that it doesn't matter to your gender expression what undies you have on, which is totally valid. Don't worry if so. But it's worth a try maybe.
