Why is every ad for a painkiller about preventing pain from affecting your life. I would have thought not experiencing as much was an adequate selling point. It’s not bad to take a break or rest, you don’t have to push through everything.

@janef0421@mastodon.nz good observation. "The Burnout Society" by Byung-Chul Han. We, citizens of neoliberal societies, have fully internalised the compulsion to work, to use every minute for work or for increasing our productivity in other ways. In authoritarian societies that compulsion was externally applied with propaganda, peer pressure, fear, etc. None of that is necessary now. We are our own overseers.

@janef0421@mastodon.nz I've always wondered that. Unless it's chronic pain, surely the pain is there for a reason and it would make more sense to figure out what that is and fix that, than just make it go away.
