When I look at the people I know who are really motivated to be rich, they all have one thing in common. They suck at budgets. They seem to NEED to be rich, because they absolutely can&#39;t survive on what everyone else can. We really need to stop trusting them to do the government budgeting things.

And yeah, I've rubbed elbows with a lot of them. Grew up in mansions. Had maids. Did a stint in boarding school. Very, I repeat very few had money because they were good at handling it. They might be good at making it without being good at handling it, through exploitation, lies, and cheating.

@tippitiwichet@mastodon.social I wish I were rich because I am not good with money and budgets. Maybe if I were, I would be rich, but then I wouldn’t have to be good with money. It feels like a catch-22.

@tippitiwichet@mastodon.social you're giving me a new perspective on my mom's neverending quest for wealth 😅 i always assumed it was because her dreams were too big (she wants soooooo many things...big, expensive things. she has fancy taste, you know?), but now that i think about it, she doesn't track her finances at all 😖
