@OneInterestingFact @ccferrie I'm anti substack too but at what point do you draw the line? This is a really good analysis of modern Ireland which is relevant to most western democracies. If we swear off anything with questionable ethics we can't do anything. I've just been reading about Rio Tinto's* wilful destruction of 45000 year old archeological sites for iron ore. That gets processed by China- the China we're meant to boycott because of their approach to free speech and the Uighurs- to be turned into steel which goes into consumer products like the phone I'm pointlessly typing on. Even owing one of these phones is supporting a cadre of sociopathic billionaires. So either go invent CO2-free smoke signals or wind it in a little with the instant condemnation of one share of an insightful piece. Maybe even offer the author help on how to transition to something else? Sorry, you got my goat there. *Edit I wrongly said BHP.

  • @Niall @ccferrie I know how hard it is. The world isn't black and white. We all draw lines where we can. Substack happens to be one of mine. There is some great content on there which I refuse to read. If those authors move to another platform I'll happily read them. You don't get change by doing nothing. Do what you can. That's what I'm doing. It's not enough but I hope it's better than nothing.
