@bluewinds There's a bunch of games in a series called "Gemcraft". The first one or two definitely started out as web games, but they're all on Steam now. One of the better balanced instances of the genre with a fairly grim fantasy story layered on top. Definitely on the slower side (incl. you can pause) but still fairly intense.

@bluewinds There's also Thronefall, which takes a more organic approach. I liked it, but it expects you to optimize a lot, and I found it to be a bit trial-and-error on that front. Looks stunning, though.

@jzillw Gemcraft is great, I've been playing it all morning; :neofox__w: I do definitely like being able to pause mid-battle (and still interact with things while paused), kind of a requirement for me to enjoy the genre.
