A cyber-terrorist hacker group has DDoS'd Canonical, causing a 24h+ major outage in the midst of critical kernel patch roll-outs. Their demands: Remove systemd and Wayland, bring back compiz. #lowqualityfact

@benjaoming@social.data.coop I understand what your hashtag may be getting at, but if this is real do you have a source (please?).

@benjaoming@social.data.coop I'm aware of why SystemD is problematic (and its creator has been, say, controversial for a long time) but not Wayland. Seemed to me like it was a needed change in the compositor space with long standing governance issues that have been slowly sorted out (I remember Valve engineers helped on that). What's the issue with it ?

@benjaoming@social.data.coop ok, wait, let me summarize: All people supporting Compiz (roughly 20-40 individuals by my first estimation) were brought together to bring down Canonical. I guess, the load balancer didn't work? #lowqualityinvestigation

  • @benjaoming@social.data.coop When KDE announced they would make KWin Wayland-only, there was a DDoS with millions of requests specifically to that one announcement blog post.
