@benjaoming@social.data.coop I'm aware of why SystemD is problematic (and its creator has been, say, controversial for a long time) but not Wayland. Seemed to me like it was a needed change in the compositor space with long standing governance issues that have been slowly sorted out (I remember Valve engineers helped on that). What's the issue with it ?

@trkzn@mastodon.social its 5 years off not being eurocentric (IME) and it fucked whatever accessibility was gained before in X11 systems. it also claims stuff like hotkeys and positioning is security issues and not a thing people expect aesthetically, to its detractors, its also more monolithic because certain things that were separate processes (window management, compositing) now aren't alterable without altering the main compositor. river is better for this but its an outlier. @benjaoming@social.data.coop

@trkzn@mastodon.social @benjaoming@social.data.coop Wayland was rolled out before it could do everything that X11 could. Even now, the available remote desktop options are flaky.
