If you tell people “I’m going to…” then your brain gets the dopamine hit immediately and then you can slack off. If you don’t tell anyone, you have to actually do the thing to get the reward.

  Even though the Gentoo live CD worked fine, I couldn’t persuade my own install’s GUI to work after a couple of hours messing with configs. I’ve given up and installed Kinoite, because I enjoy rebooting a lot. I’ll probably set up BSD VMs on the machine.

  We had this on the downstairs bathroom door at the old house. Now it’s on the utility closet door. I went to school a few miles from a major NATO command base, and would likely have been vaporized if Able Archer 83 had gone slightly worse. So this is partly a joke and partly a reminder. It used a patented algorithm they called MTT or Micro-word Tree Trimming. There was a slider you could drag to increase or decrease the amount of summarization in real time!   Bad news: our main sewer line got blocked up somehow. Good news: there’s a nice easy access cover. Bad news: it was buried under snow and I didn’t know where it was. Good news: it was only buried under a small amount of snow, not the waist-high drift at the side of the house. The plumber managed to find it, and we didn't have to have him remove the toilet. Bad news: the problem started around 5pm so we have to pay after hours rates.
