@paul_griffin when I was about 12, I went to a museum and saw this painting. According to my mom, I stopped and refused to leave the room for about an hour, and I just stared at it.
I don't remember how long I was there, but I do remember my mind swirling with new thoughts and feelings, and my life being somehow changed when I saw it. I never looked at the world in quite the same way again.
THAT is what great art does, even if it was created by a misogynist prick.

@alisynthesis this was van Gogh's "Mountains at Saint-Rémy" for me yesterday. I was just captivated.
