I suspect it was a shock for us because we're not from a minority group. Those who are knew already.
But, we shall see. I am guardedly very hopeful. While I think a lot of Brits don't think too deeply about what goes on outside their country, I suspect the images of OAPs being dragged away while quietly protesting DOES offend them.

@Remittancegirl @ApostateEnglishman yes, the image of elderly people being carried away by uniformed officers is sufficiently irksome to the polite majority I stood up and was handcuffed as I did not want to be manhandled - this is just me though
