Ever since I got the heat pump in January, and over the month since the solar and battery were commissioned on 1st April, I’ve been collecting the data needed to accurately project how the combination will work over a full year. April was especially encouraging because, if payment for exports had been set up sooner, the month’s excess power generated would already exceeded the cost of the dwindling power I imported.   • So… modelling the extent to which credit for power export should well exceed grid power imported in May-September and taking account of my strategy for running the heat pump full time with 12.96p per kWh stored grid power over the four coldest months, I calculate that I’m likely to go from a £1200pa combined energy bill in 2025 (actual electricity+gas costs) to somewhat less than £200pa fully electric heating, lighting and cooking in future 12 month periods. I’ll tweak this as time progresses.
