Been thinking about this (https://www.tumblr.com/headspace-hotel/814658565817171968/weediness-as-a-quality-of-art) tumblr post about how some art forms are "weedy", largely unwanted, pops up in neglected places and generally destroyed as platforms move towards respectability, but often beautiful once you take the time to stop and appreciate them.
They mention graffiti and fanfiction as "weedy" art forms under this definition and the post also takes kind of an ecological perspective. Like, 'weeds' are themselves an important part of the ecosystem as the biodiversity that exist "between the cracks".
I was talking at work today with someone living in the countryside and wanting to create a meadow on her property, then she read up on it, found out that an important step to creating a meadow is to allow dandelions to spread and she got cold feet.
And "you can't have a meadow without dandelions" is suuuch a good metaphor for the way 'weedy' artforms are important to art.

Pornography absolutely qualifies as a 'weedy' artform, it has that quality of respectable people don't want it around and they will remove it thinking its just part of routine maintenance and it's absolutely impossible to kill cus people are just gonna keep making it.
