So they let me out this evening to do a hustings convened by SightScotland. ASs the only sight-impaired person on the panel, I was inwardly howling with laughter as the sighted reps responded to practically every question by stressing the importance of lived experience. This obviously didn't include the hustings itself.
Bonus marks for the #Labour guy for ableist mansplaining of how to do something in zoom with reference to the mouse and visual appearance of the interface. /1

Apparently he was convener of the cross-party group on visual impairment in the previous session. Enough said. No, thinking about it, he had no knowledge of the sighted or otherwise status of the rest of the panel: he just assumed. And we wonder at the inaccessibility of our environment, the attainment gap , employment difficulties and lack of understanding of our needs. 2/2
