@peterbrown@mastodon.scot and drug users and those struggling with addiction don't deserve homelessness

  • @peterbrown "But if it's not due to drug use or poor choices, and it's literally just circumstantial, then that means it could happen to me, and I need to do something about it... Nah, I'll just blame it on the drug use." - Far too many USAican liberals

@peterbrown And were this Finland, they'd have a new place to live if early intervention didn't stop their eviction: https://unearththevoyage.com/finland-homelessness-success-lessons-policy-compassion-effective-solutions/ Will this happen in the US? I'm almost certain it won't nationwide barring a massive cultural change but maybe it will in certain states

  • @peterbrown Ive lived in my car. If I didnt have that car, I would have been on the streets. The fact that I did have my car allowed me to eek my way out of the problem but I was incredibly lucky. FAMILIES live in their car. Actual full on families with kids that are going to school, LIVE IN THEIR CAR or a tent.............or on the streets. Children are growing up as HOMELESS not knowing what having their own room even means. We have an ENTIRE SOCIETY of homeless now and their numbers are unfortunately and exponentially growing.
