@johannab@cosocial.ca UBI inflates the goods and services needed by recipients, firms will increase prices to absorb as much of their new funding as possible. Thus universal access to goods and services is preferred over cash, and the govt controls prices when procuring them, through its purchasing scale and industry information. Like it used to do for drugs, medical services, postsecondary education, and housing.

@johnefrancis@cosocial.ca heh. this is why I said before I get in another dust-up. I've heard that argument, and I've heard debunkings of that argument, I've seen more data and papers favourable on the UBI side ... Yet, in just about about every system I see, context and the particulars of configuration and interaction are a massive part of the equation and we never seem to make these things other than as black boxes. Which we then detonate, unexamined, out in a field when the first output isn't perfect.
