@drewtowler @zersiax 100% relatable.
It’s ironic for me, as I run a large mastodon community - but I’d never, ever, be able to do this if it were in a work environment or a public group/club, etc. where I had to see folks and interact in person. I’m a 2-5 people in person max kind of gal. And even then, I need days of solitude and nervous system regulation time (lots of stimming) afterwards.
The internet helps a lot with being perceived for me, it’s not perfect, but it allows me to not feel so overwhelmed (and avoidant, as you so well said) when in the presence of others.
That feeling of “loosing all manual dexterity”… wow, you put that so eloquently. So very well said.

@britt @drewtowler I can ... somewhat relate, in that I seem to have more trouble performing manual dexterity-related things when I know somebody's watching me. This is why I tend to avoid making myself a plate if there's others in the kitchen that might be looking at me. But I think mine has more to do with being underestimated almost chronically, be it perceived or actual. Doing things when I'm by myself is somehow more effective in a way I can't really put my finger on
