@irix@cloudisland.nz we have 2 people WFH almost full time and last year I had a half rack mini datacentre temporarily. Our idle usage is quite high around 400W even overnight during that time and I need to figure out what else uses power then. Over winter we use about 20kWh a day, about 14 during spring and summer.
This would be the main benefit of the battery to move off peak usage into free sun energy!

@dch@bsd.network Wow. Thats a lot. I guess even though the weather here in NZ can be a bit miserable it does seem like we're moving away from moderate-maritime towards sub-tropical with climate-change. So fairly mild without extremes of hot or cold. I'm on my own in an old 1918 old farmers cottage (not well insulated and drafty) and my monthly usage varies from 200-500 kwh.
