My hope is that what defines the next era of tech is looking to the past and deciding what was good enough and embracing it https://wheelfront.com/this-alberta-startup-sells-no-tech-tractors-for-half-price/?utm_source=hackernewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=fav

@csalzman this will be great for applications other than crops people flock to big JDs because they offer real value for money in terms of boosting yield via really precise working of the field

@csalzman @cwebber I was thinking there probably is a viable market for cars with minimal tech in them.

@csalzman @ewen I don't think we will have a choice, if we value any sort of freedom

@csalzman I got as far as " My hope is that what defines the next era of tech is looking to the past" and went "Yay, STEAMPUNK, wooo! Let's go!" 😜 But yes, all-mechanical machines have a lot to recommend them. I miss the mechanical odometer on older cars - the decimal was a different color and it was easier to read. And the old mechanical voting machines that recorded your vote with metal gears were absolutely un-hackable. Let's bring them back.
