I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but despite all the good news about solar generation rising steeply, global warming projections over this century based on current policies are 2.8°C. Emissions are still increasing by more than 2% per year while they should be reducing by 7% per year to meet 2°C. We still need to cut energy use dramatically to achieve actual meaningful reductions in emissions. (We have of course already missed 1.5°C, so it is going to be bad, but any fraction of a degree over 2°C makes it a lot worse.)

@wim_v12e @csepp Arguably though: the prediction last year was 3.1C. The prediction this year is 2.8C. > Since the adoption of the Paris Agreement ten years ago, temperature predictions have fallen from 3-3.5°C So the prediction has gone down about as much in the last year as in the prior _decade_. The good news with solar generation rising steeply isn't "there's more of it", it's "it's rising exponentially, and every optimistic prediction has been met years early". i.e. the _second deriviative_ is more positive than expected, not just the _first_.
