@trysdyn also to note: how much of that “way around it” depends on you having some kind of privilege outside of technical prowess? there are people out there that gloat about how they live without having a SIM card/a phone number and they display such privilege. you physically cannot live in this world without a phone number unless you want to literally not have a bank account. and yet they say it like they found a secret cheatcode to society. they didn’t, they just have someone else do everything else for them.

@trysdyn I feel like a lot of computer people have this mentality that if you don't know how to do something, it's your fault for not knowing it and they'll often take complaining about an issue as admission that you don't know how to fix it when that's not necessarily the case. And I guess there's a bit of fuck you got mine in there too, telling themselves it's not going to affect them (wrong) so why care?

@trysdyn it's shocking that the utterly tone deaf response to this is not 'computers are fine, most of us grew up during the 90s and 00s and had access to these things in a less controlled state than they are now, even' coupled with 'parents, BE PARENTS. Tech billionaires, fuck off and stop abusing literally everyone with your predatory business models that don't care what they do to the whole planet.' Fuck you got mine. 9.9
